WELCOME TO 'FEELGOOD FRIDAYS'

What is Hospice Day Care?

Hospice Day Care is a safe and supportive environment where specialist individual and group care is provided free for up to 12 adults who have a progressive, incurable illness with a short term prognosis.

When is it available?

Day Care currently takes place in the Woldside Unit of Louth County Hospital on Fridays (excluding Bank Holidays) between 10.00am and 3.00pm.  Patients can attend for the whole day, a morning or afternoon session, or just for a short treatment or therapy session.

What happens at Day Care?

On arrival at Day Care each patient is assessed by the Day Care Team Leader to discuss their needs and to set up an individual plan of care.  Patients are welcome to bring along a relative or carer to the first visit.

During the day patients can get involved in the various activities, receive clinical interventions and therapies or simply relax and chat.  Lunch and refreshments are provided;  special diets can be catered for.  Patients can have access to the hospital Chaplain and get advice and support from the nursing staff on all aspects of their illness.  Patients can attend for up to 12 weeks and are then re-assessed.  They remain under the care of their GP.
